Today lesson objective will be How-to do a proper keyword research using Google Keyword tool.

This ismy favourite keyword research tool. Not only does Google make this tool awesome but it make it free for all to use. And as this tool is made to help PPC marketer, so if you are doing article or video marketing, this is perhaps the first place to jump in before anything else.

Reason: You will find first hand of  the information on Google.

Ok let’s get it started shall we? All right, let’s go.

First, open your favorite browser and key in the following, https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

Once in, you will see a blank box that you can key in any keyword of your choice. For the purpose of this lesson, le’s type inthe keyword cat training and type in the captcha words that appear and hit Get Keywords Ideas button. Wait for a few seconds as Google is queying their database. After a few seconds later, a list of keyword will be shown to you.,

From here you will see,

  • Keywords Advertiser Competition
  • Approx Search Volume
  • Approx Avg Search Volume

From a marketer stand point of view, you will want to target keywords that have more search volume than the others. But that can be misleading at times, if you are building up a niche website or just target a very specific audience. Therefore, what you can do is, find similar related keywords like, training your cats, training your cat, complete cat training, cat kitten training and online cat training.

You will probably have heard that market are saturated. But I can safely tell you that for any online market, there are millions keywords and multiple marketing angle that one can target. You will need time and understand the “WHY” behind each of the keyword. That concludes the basic of doing a keyword research.

Go ahead and try out yourself. If you are feeling gutty go ahead select different country from the drop down and you wll be amazed by the result.
