It is no exaggeration to say that PLR e-books and PLR articles can be very useful resources for hard-working marketers who are trying to develop their online businesses. This is not just due to the fact that PLR articles and ebooks may be bought quite cheaply these days, but also because these products have an inherent value in that a considerable amount of (keyword) research and writing already has been done for you.

But PLR articles and e-books may be risky. The idea is that many online businesses are by now using PLR ebooks and articles in a very organized manner, in order to make more money. In real figures, the same PLR articles and ebooks may have been distributed to hundreds or even thousands of customers, who then may have posted the material on their websites, with or without changing it a lot.

How to Succeed with PLR

The idea I am trying to promote is therefore this: you simply must revise each PLR article or PLR e-book so that it factually ends up being absolutely unique. One reason for doing this pertains to the search engines: being able to publish unique material will make the search engines love your new material.

Another reason for providing unique articles and ebooks is that it serves your readers better. For which visitor likes to come to a web site or blog and stumble on an article that he has already taken part of somewhere else, written by someone else? So even if you may not be punished by the search engines for duplicate content, your visitors may very well protest or become doubtful.

Rewriting and rearranging can also be done for other reasons; for example, all authors do no think using the same thought patterns. Some writers write their e-books and articles in such a way as to, perhaps, leave out a few things that you yourself may have considered to be natural to include. Or maybe the writing technique was not what you would have expected? Or maybe the writer is just incorrect? Whatever the case may be, you should plan for some intense editing of the PLR ebook or article to make it suit your needs better.

Here, then, are six ideas on how to modify your PLR ebook or PLR article so that it can become more successful:

1. Altering the title

Sometimes PLR materials have badly chosen titles. Therefore, you may want to alter it into a title that is more focused. For good search engine optimization (SEO), you should be especially careful to choose the right title.

And even if the PLR material does not have a badly chosen title, you still have to change it, for it must not be the same title as in the PLR package (which dozens or hundreds of other markets may not have changed before they published it). So you may want to spend some time with Google’s free keyword tool to see which title would be most fitting.

2. Rearrange paragraphs

PLR material is not always perfect. Sometimes it is written in a very unstructured way, where paragraphs do not flow in a very logical manner. (So it is wise to get some samples of the texts before you buy any PLR package!)

One way to “rewrite” such a PLR article or ebook is therefore just to rearrange the paragraphs in the text. By moving one paragraph before another, the overall flow of the article (or ebook) can become significantly enhanced. And the advantage of it is that there is no actual typing involved!

3. Erasing paragraphs

Sometimes, especially in low-class PLR products, it is not adequate to just rearrange paragraphs, for some of the paragraphs may be so badly written that they do not fit anywhere. In those cases, the only answer may be to delete those paragraphs entirely.

4. Rewriting paragraphs

This is a procedure by which you essentially retain the same main ideas in the paragraph, but you state them a bit differently. Instead of going with the text “PLR articles are articles that have Private Label Rights”, you might do a rewrite like this: “PLR texts are electronic texts that grant the owner Private Label Rights.”

5. Expanding paragraphs

Even though the preceding method to alter the text is useful, the real power of rewriting lies in the expansion of paragraphs. By using this method, you can make your edited text much more unique and useful to your readers.

By extending an article I mean expanding its particular content. You can, for instance, add new points, new reasons, new arguments, new questions, or new data.

It is not unsurprising that such additions may sometimes result in paragraphs that are very long. So it may be wise to split them up as you go. This only makes your article or e-book even more unique.

6. Put in Applicable Links

In some PLR products you may find included certain helpful links and keywords that were used to assemble the product. Sometimes you may decide to put some of these links and keywords into your rewritten text. At other times you may decide that you wish to add your own links or keywords instead.

But no matter what you choose to do, be careful with relevance. Do not, in most cases, add links that are not relevant to the text. So if you, for example, have written an e-book or article on forex trading, don’t include a link to a page on how to train a poodle. Stick to the topic.

Final remarks

It is true that PLR ebooks and PLR articles may increase your online profits if done properly. An important step toward success is to be very careful to rewrite the articles and ebooks in such a way that they become not only unique but also valuable to your potential customers.

In addition to the six editing tips I have described above, you also may want to think of other ways of editing the material, such putting in new graphics or videos. The more thought and personal touch you put into your editing, the happier your readers will be.
